I’m so excited to announce that my book has a title! If you’ve been reading along on my old blog, you already know the basic premise of the book, but for those who are just joining me, here’s the elevator speech:
My book is about the virtues and written for kids in 4th through 8th grades. It explains what virtue is and the different categories of virtue. The heart of the book, though, is in the saints that play the starring role in each chapter. Each saint illustrates exactly what it means to possess a certain virtue with a detailed story from his or her life. The saints I wrote about come from every time period, geographic area, and life experience. They serve as living examples of the way that anybody, anywhere can live a life of virtue.
My original title became unworkable because after I wrote and submitted the first draft, a series of CDs and DVDs was released under that name. My editor and I discussed different options and ideas, but nothing was really speaking to either of us. Pauline Books & Media put the title issue before some focus groups and then did some discussing and reworking and came up with the new title.
How to Be a Hero: Train with the Saints will be released in early 2017!
I love the title, actually more so than the original title. It ties into a theme I use throughout the book: heroic action in building the kingdom of God. Cover art is currently in the works and things are rolling right along. I can’t wait to get the finished product in my (and your!) hands. Patience: it might be a virtue, but it’s not one of mine. 😉
